Spiritual Titles, Shiny Certificates & the Disappearing Light of Integrity
Have you felt it too? That quiet shift in energy that’s been getting more noticeable since the world reopened after the pandemic? Something has changed, and not just globally, but within our spiritual spaces too. These days, it seems like depth is being replaced by display, and spiritual paths are turning into personal brands. I’ve been sitting with this for a while now, and what I’m about to share may ruffle a few feathers. But I believe it needs to be said.

I don’t know how others see the world we’re living in right now, but personally, I find it’s become a much harder place to navigate. Ever since the pandemic, something has shifted. The energy feels different. People seem more on edge, quicker to take offense, and often more self, focused than they were a decade ago. It has become all about me, me, me, and especially, how that “me” appears on social media.
And here’s what’s been troubling me lately: I’m starting to notice this trend showing up even among those who call themselves spiritual, those who describe themselves as sensitive, energy, aware, healers, practitioners, and teachers. At least, that’s what it says on paper.
But I keep hearing stories. Quiet ones. Honest ones. From people who are genuinely spiritually attuned, who say they’re crossing paths more and more often with those who wear the right labels and speak the right language, but don’t seem to have put in the time, the practice, or the training. There’s a growing disconnect between what people claim to be and the actual depth of their experience.
These days, it seems like spiritual credibility is becoming more about how many titles you can collect than how much work you’ve done. You see it everywhere, people calling themselves Reiki Practitioner, Shamanic Healer, Crystal Therapist, Sound Bath Facilitator, Tarot Reader, Breathwork Coach, Meditation Teacher, Energy Worker, and Oracle Guide and so on. Sometimes all of those at once. And the faster, and cheaper, they can snag a certificate, the better.
Some days, the messages I receive from them are quiet and gentle. But this time, it was as if they had been waiting for me to ask. Their words came through clearly, powerfully, and to be honest, what they shared really surprised me.
They told me that true spirituality comes from the soul. From the heart. Yes, we live in a physical world, and of course, we need to be practical and earn a living. But they reminded me that the light of real spirituality shines brightly, until ego steps in. When that happens, the light dims.
Not because earning money is wrong, but because intention matters!
But let’s be honest. Authentic spiritual work takes time. It’s not about stacking up good sounding labels to impress online. It’s about the work, the experience gained by working with people, learning through real connection, with humility and care. The more titles someone flashes, the more likely it is that a few of them are only skin-deep. And that’s a problem, because healing, teaching, and guiding others aren’t hobbies or hustles. They’re sacred or at least they should be!
It was something that I simply could not get out of my head, it really bothered me and decided to ask my angels and guides just to see if they had anything to share. And wow, did they ever!

They weren’t speaking against making a living through spiritual practices.
They were talking about people who use spirituality as a business model, without living or walking the path itself.
People who see spiritual work not as a calling, but as a shortcut to visibility or income.
Real spiritual practitioners don’t do what they do because it looks good on Social Media. They do it because they have to. Because their hearts won’t let them do otherwise. Because it is who they are!
The message from my Angels was clear: the collective spiritual vibration has dropped.
How scary is that!!! But why?
Because ego is creeping into spaces that were once filled with reverence. And when ego dominates, the vibration we work with, especially as healers and teachers, suffers.
Let me give you an example.
I know some people will feel offended by this.
Some may even get angry. And that’s okay.
We’re all allowed to have our own views.
But maybe this isn’t just my opinion.
Maybe it’s something that comes from a completely
different source. Maybe the Angels just wanted me to say it out loud.
Maybe it’s a wake up call. A loving, but firm one.
I’m not here to judge anyone’s path, seriously. We’re all doing the best we can with the awareness we have. But maybe this is a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and check in with ourselves.
To ask yourself: Am I still doing this with integrity?
Am I still connected to the heart of why I started at the first place?
If this message resonates with you, let it be a quiet moment of reconnection.
And if it doesn’t, that’s okay too.
I share it not to divide, but to offer a space for reflection, for all of us, myself included. We grow by being honest, not perfect.
If you’ve felt these shifts too, or you’ve had your own experiences around this, feel free to share them.
Sometimes just knowing we’re not the only ones sensing these changes can bring a great deal of clarity and comfort,
for ourselves and for others walking a similar path.
Let’s do our part to make sure the spiritual light doesn’t dim any further, but instead grows stronger, clearer, and brighter.
It starts with integrity, but first and foremost ... it starts with us!

I’ve been a Reiki Master and Teacher for nearly 25 years, an Angel Therapist for over 20, and I’ve been reading cards for almost 50 years.
I don’t say that to boast. I say it to explain why I’m so heartbroken by what I’m about to say.
Some truths are uncomfortable. This is one of them ....
There are certain qualifications you simply cannot earn online! .... Period!
Lately, and this is just one of the many examples, I’ve seen online Reiki courses popping up, some for, so to speak, the price of a takeaway coffee.
And I have to ask .... do people who sign up for those courses truly believe that learning Reiki in this way is equal to the depth of attending a real workshop, with a present teacher, real time feedback, practice sessions, and live attunements?
So what can we do?
We stay awake. We stay aware. And we keep educating others. But most importantly ... we stay true to our own light.
Because when your light stays pure and bright, you don’t need to shout. You simply shine, and people feel it.
And just to be clear, this isn’t a rant about Reiki.
It’s about what I see as a concerning trend in the world of spiritual practitioners and teachers.
Good, experienced teachers are being passed over in favour of cheaper online alternatives, and over time, the result is that nothing stays pure and bright.
Let’s not forget: it’s all about intention. It’s about what happens when we treat sacred things casually. When we chase credentials instead of wisdom. When we put marketing ahead of meaning. I hope what the angels shared makes sense to you.
I honestly can’t believe I didn’t see it this clearly before. I knew the energy was changing. I could feel it. People are changing.
Values are shifting. There’s less respect, less patience, and more scrambling for visibility, power, or bigger platforms:
I need more clients than her.
I want more followers than him.
I should be teaching the biggest group.
Why isn’t my post getting more likes?
It has all become about me, me, me.
Come on… you can’t be serious!
How do you learn proper hand placement from a PDF or video?
How do you know if you’re channeling energy effectively without real feedback?
How do you receive an attunement lying on your living room couch while someone on the other end says, “It’s done”?
This isn’t magic by WiFi!
Every Reiki Master I known would agree, online Reiki courses are a diluted version of what the practice is meant to be. A surrogate. A shortcut. And often, a way to make quick money with minimal effort. And that’s the deeper issue. It’s not just about Reiki. Reiki is just one example of how our spiritual vibration is being watered down.
When spirituality becomes a commodity, the light begins to flicker.
