The Curious Mask

Hi,
This is what started me on my spiritual journey.
Up to when I was 5 years old, my father was a cook on the big cargo ships from the ‘Holland-America line’. This gave him the opportunity for quick visits in many countries when the ship was in the harbour.
On one of those visits he came across a small market somewhere in South America, I honestly cannot remember the country anymore. He was looking around to buy something to bring home, when he was approached by an old woman who said she had something special for him. Long story short, he went with her and bought a wooden mask.
At the time I was 4 years old and we were living in a small fisherman house and the mask was hanging on the wall in the living room. My father was on another trip and I was home alone with my mom, who was in the kitchen making dinner.
I was in the living room which was separate from the kitchen, playing. Suddenly the mask came of the wall and floated towards me. I walked around the chair and the mask followed me around, not being threatening, but at a respectful distance, I never sensed any bad intentions from it, it seemed more curious than anything else. Funny enough I was not scared at all. We all know that children are far more accepting to the unusual than we, adults are. After having circled each other for maybe 2 or 3 minutes I went to the kitchen to tell my mom, that the mask had come off the wall and was following me around.
She later said, that I was so determined and no matter what she asked or said my story never changed. She even tried to tell me that I must have been sleeping and that it was just a dream. She was really surprised at how adamant I was for a 4 year old and how strongly I denied that.
Needless to say that the enigma of the mask has never been solved, but I have to admit that when I was in my teens and old enough to stay home alone, I took the mask of the wall and hid it in a cupboard. At that point it DID creep me out 😄
I KNOW I did not make it up, I was not dreaming, it happened!
Up to this day, I can still feel the fabric from the chair we were circling, it was velvet like with tiny flowers shaved into it. In my mind’s eye I can still see every detail, feel every emotion from that specific moment in time, it still is as vivid in my memory as it was when I experienced it.
Ever since that moment my fascination with anything out of the ordinary increased with my age and I am fascinated by anything what we now consider to be to be spiritual or paranormal.
I have added a photo of the mask, it is now proudly hanging on a wall in MY living room! It does not scare me anymore!
